Daycare operator’s honour

-

CASSOWARY Coast daycare owner and operator, Jasmine Sheridan has won the Excellence in Family Day Care Award 2021.

Presented by Family Day Care Australia, the award recognises the amazing work done by educators, coordinators and services to deliver high-quality early childhood education and care to children across Australia.

Community and culture portfolio holder, Councillor Trudy Tschui said it is well recognised that the home environment and small ratios of children create the best possible environment for play-based learning in young children.

“It takes a lot of dedication and hard work, and it is exceptional to see one of our very own educators recognised for her commitment,” Cr Tschui said.

“Jasmine has shown she goes above and beyond the high standard required and often takes her group of children for walks in the rainforest, to visit local hobby farms and joins in with other childcare centres.

“She also takes her children to participate in library events such as story time and attends a dance and music session in Tully.

“As you can imagine the risk management and planning of such excursions is a lot of extra work but she is passionate about community, nature and the outdoors and wishes to share this with the children in her care.”

She said Ms Sheridan would continually strive to improve her skills both professionally and personally and was a great communicator that kept her families not just informed but involved in all her planning and programming.

“She is a great support to new educators and mentors where she is needed.

“The Cassowary Coast Regional Council congratulates Jasmine on her dedication and commitment to early childhood education within the region. This award is well deserved recognition for the special impact Jasmine has on the lives of the children in her care.”
