GRAFFITI ARTIST MAKES HIS MARK

- ANDREAS NICOLA

A GRAFFITI artist has brought a splash of alternative laneway style to Cairns, with his designs adorning a CBD business.

Andres Duque, originally from Colombia, has been painting the streets all around the world for 10 years, with his most recent spell in Melbourne.

Mr Duque has been commissioned to do a mural at the entrance of Bar 94 on Lake St, bringing a Melbourne vibe to Cairns.

“My idea is to bring something different to Cairns. I know it would take some time,” Mr Duque said.

“My art I would describe is open minded, I work with what is surrounding me, so I work in the animals and my surroundings.”

The artwork outside of Bar 94 was based on his friend from Melbourne as a way of showing his appreciation of her. The artist can be found on Instagram at Vientosolar1.
