- ALISON PATERSON

COMBINING sport and health for the local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community, free vaccinations will be on offer – plus giveaways and prizes – at the Gordonvale Indigenous Rugby League Carnival this weekend.

Lane Machinery director Mal Lane said the annual event will feature 12 teams with about 500 players and officials and attract a crowd of 2000 to Alley

Park on Saturday and Sunday.

“If you get the jab you can win fishing and meal vouchers and other prizes thanks to sponsors Allclass, BCF, Tom Hedley and Babinda Springs,” he said.

Wuchopperen Health Service deputy CEO Rachel Ham said it will be a marvellous event.

“We are thrilled to be there,” she said,

“You can get jabbed between 10am and 4pm each day.”
