WEEKEND OF NOTE FOR MUSIC LOVERS

- ANDREAS NICOLA

A MAJOR music festival is back in Cairns this weekend with lots of fun and dancing expected.

The popular Grass is Greener will be held on Saturday, featuring a major Aussie line-up.

Ben Gumbleton from Boo Seeka has a new addition this year in Jay Bainbridge and they have performed together only twice live.

“It honestly feels like I have been playing with Jay for years,” Ben said.

“He’s highly professional and his energy on stage matches mine, which is hard to do because I am pretty crazy when it comes to live performances.”

This year, organisers have promised more shade for festival-goers.

“We have two big shade structures coming in,” Grass is Greener founder Oli Frost said. “We definitely are paying attention to past feedback.”

Grass is Greener is on from 12pm on Saturday at the Cairns Showgrounds.

Another event — the Tablelands Folk Festival — will be held at Yungaburra from Friday to Sunday.
