Perfect recipe for success
Gathar – Innovation Excellence award (sponsored by Cairns Regional Council) and Business Technology award (sponsored by NBN)
IT WAS a double celebration for Gathar, an online marketplace that connects people who love to cook with people who love to entertain, as the business won two BEX awards.
It took home the Innovation award, sponsored by Cairns Regional Council, and the Business Technology Excellence Award, sponsored by NBN Local.
“We were very surprised to have two awards in two categories that we’re really passionate about,” said founder Jodie Mlikota, who joined forces with Nicky Jurd and Kaj Haffenden from Precedence to start the business. “We were just so thrilled to be recognised by the Chamber.”
Gathar started in Cairns and Port Douglas three years ago with a couple of chefs and since then has expanded to 23 locations throughout the country, with 150 chefs on the platform.
Gathar’s chefs bring all the ingredients to the home, cook in the host’s home, serve and then clean up.
“When you have friends over for dinner you don’t really get to sit down and enjoy,” Ms Mlikota said. “Gathar is about creating that restaurant experience at home.”
