HEY POLLIES, SURF’S UP

-

WHY is it that our politicians at all three levels of government are not banging down the door of

developers of the “Kelly Slater” style surfing park?

Unlike the Olympics, convention centres, opera and arts venues, rugby league, soccer, basketball stadiums or Bunnings Star Wars movie production theatres, surfing is a worldwide multi-trillion-dollar money spinner.

Are our politicians not interested providing world tourists with diving the Great Barrier Reef and on cloudy days, providing perfect waves for surfing, 365 days per year? Are they not interested in filling our empty CBD shops with surf boards and surfing gear? Are they not interested in providing 100 per cent safety for children, locals and tourists from deadly saltwater predators? Are they not interested in providing something useful and healthy to do, for our criminal youth?

The opportunity to make Cairns great for all is now staring our politicians in their faces.
