So by December 17 when borders open with an influx of tourists, 80% of Queenslanders will be Covid vaccinated, that means one in five people walking around a supermarket, bar or club etc won’t be. It’s “Freedom Day” for the virus and even though a double jab may help protect most of us, our hospital system is going to be put under immense pressure, especially in regional areas.

Elizabeth, Earlville

It seems the best thing about freedom days is the ability to get to the pub or to sip on a latte! Meanwhile there exists a callous disregard for the ever increasing death toll from Covid. What a strange society we live in.

Re: Sam Williamson (CP, 22/10). Rolls Royce are almost ready to roll small modular nuclear reactors off their assembly line. Rolls Royce is the company that builds jet engines for passenger aircraft that are incredibly reliable and we can expect their nukes will be every bit as safe and commercially viable.

How does a Gold Coast unvaccinated Uber driver go to Sydney and Melbourne during the biggest border lockout and still get back into Queensland? Words fail me.

So McDonald’s now have a vegan burger. My understanding of veganism is it is a moral not dietary lifestyle choice. Surely any serious vegan wouldn’t go into a store let alone spend money there. Or is this another case of a loud minority group living by the “do as I say, not as I do“slogan?

Two lanes back again for the Barron River Bridge (CP 22/10). Yay. How long now for a permanent fix? Not holding my breath.

Biden’s energy secretary has finally acknowledged that China is the world’s biggest polluter, but then said the US is just as bad which is totally false. Emissions tracker sites show China is responsible for around 80% of pollution, then India about 10% with the rest split between the US, Europe and Africa. Those worried about climate need to direct all their energy to China, starting by boycotting Chinese products.

Razza, Edmonton

Those who aren’t worried about a digital ID because they “have nothing to hide” are missing the point. The question is, do you have anything that can be stolen?

Higgs, Tolga

Those who believe that Australia further reducing emissions will help the climate have no understanding of the subject whatsoever. If they did they wouldn’t believe that. The Liberal net zero plan is all pain and no gain.

If the worst happens to the unvaccinated when Covid is let loose, who will be left to contribute to the text the editor section?
