POOL SAFETY

Endless Summer

Pool Inspections co-owner Aaron Marsh (right) says he’s amazed at how many people don't realise the regulations they need to comply with to keep their family and community safe. “The last thing you want is to find a child face down in your pool,” he said.

“My business partner, Tony Trafford, always says ‘not all superheroes wear capes’.” Mr Marsh said in the five years the pair had been in business, they had certified “a couple of thousand residential and commercial pools”. “Thankfully, a lot of people do think about the rules and there’s nothing better than going around to a home and you see everything is nicely maintained and safe,” he said. “We often hear people say ‘thank you for pointing this out’, but there are a lot of beautiful multimillion-dollar mansions in Cairns where the owners get upset when you tell them they need to put up a fence or bolt their beautiful french doors.”

POOL COSTS

From $35,000 for an entrylevel plunge pool. About $65,000 for a 10m x 5m pool.

Factor in decking or paving, fencing and maintenance. Safety certification is a must.
