LOVED ONES GROW ON YOU LONG AFTER THEY DEPART

- MARK MURRAY

A DAINTREE conservation group is preparing to plant more than 3000 trees over the wet season, many of which are in honour of loved ones and special events. Daintree Life founders Dave and Connie Pinson have planted more than 11000 Indigenous rainforest species since starting the private business in 2018.

The venture has grown in popularity, allowing visitors to the world’s most ancient rainforest the opportunity to plant trees in remembrance of deceased family members or to celebrate milestones.

“Our general ethos is to revegetate weedy areas with Indigenous rainforest species, reducing council maintenance, increasing and improving habitat for our local wildlife including expanding wildlife corridors,” Ms Pinson said.

“Memorial plantings have become a popular request with us. These can be for birthdays, death of loved ones, weddings and or any other occasion.”

The company also helps to remove invasive species in the rainforest with council’s permission.
