No plans for must boosters
THERE are no plans yet to make a third Covid jab compulsory for Queenslanders to enter venues and locations where vaccines are mandatory.
It came as a man confronted Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk on the Gold Coast, forcing her to apologise after he accused her of locking him out of the state last year when he went to NSW to visit his dying dad.
The Sunshine State recorded another 5977 Covid-19 cases on Friday, while hospitalisations dipped from 633 to 584 as another 14 people lost their lives with the virus.
Ms Palaszczuk on Friday maintained the government’s view was that Queenslanders did not need to show they have had the booster in order for them to enter cafes, clubs and restaurants, and being double vaccinated would “suffice”.
“The only place that we are looking at that (mandatory third dose) of course is aged care,” Ms Palaszczuk said.
Her comments came after the Australian Technical Advisory Group on Immunisation gave new advice indicating the booster shot was needed to hold “up-to-date” vaccination status.
