THE QUADDIE

Race 2 Class 3 Plate (1600 METRES)

It looks the right race for Kotabharu, she is ready to win and looks well placed. Louis January was solid winning on pace at the Sunshine Coast last start. Fit and well and is sure to appreciate racing in Central Queensland now. Whykayoh could be the improver here after two runs back from a break.

SELECTIONS – 5 Kotabharu, 1 Louis January, 4 Whykayoh

Race 3 OPEN Handicap (1400 METRES)

Despite a big rise in weight I’ve got to stick with the tough little mare Daunting Queen, she tries her heart out every start and just may have got a touch too far back last start, will be running on. Svindal is handy when he is right and he was making nice ground over the unsuitable 1050m last start. Kings County should be suited stepping up to the 1400m now.

SELECTIONS – 1 Daunting Queen, 5 Svindal, 6 Kings County

Race 4 QTIS 3YO Maiden Handicap (1100 METRES)

The wraps are strong about Boom Time Baby on debut here. Two very nice recent trial wins have him ready to perform here. Liverpool Gal trialled well before resuming with a nice second placing up on speed and will be improved for the run. Bay’s Spirit was a touch disappointing but some nice placings in runs prior ensures we must include him in our Quaddie calculations here.

SELECTIONS – 1 Boom Time Baby, 3 Liverpool Gal, 8 Bay’s Spirit

Race 5 BENCHMARK 58 Handicap (1200 METRES)

Boudica’s Gift trialled well before resuming two runs back with a good second placing. A touch disappointing second-up but prepared to forgive as it looks placed well to give this a big shake. I will be very interested in the CQ debut of the Top End Syndications runner Limpet, who comes north after showing some ability in Victoria and has trialled solidly in preparation for this. Starhattan will find this a lot easier than recent South East racing and gets in well at the weights.

SELECTIONS – 3 Boudica’s Gift, 1 Limpet, 4 Starhattan
