BROOKLYN’S WINNING SMILE MAKES HER FNQ’S CUTEST

- SARAH CARROLL

WITH one hundred Far North babies in the running, it was a tough competition for our readers to crown the region’s cutest bub among all the chubby cheeks and adorable outfits.

But in the end, the win went to four-month-old Brooklyn Holmes and her big, big bow.

For first-time mum Jade Holmes, the competition brought to light just how supportive her friends and family are – and how obsessed they might be with little Brooklyn.

“We had a lot of help from our friends and family who voted and shared the article on Facebook. I shared it a heap of times on my social media too, trying to pull the win,” she said.

“Everyone is so obsessed with her. She’s the first grandchild on my side of the family so they adore her but we also have friends whose kids beg to see the baby.

“Even strangers love her. We go for walks on the Esplanade when the weather is good and she’s the biggest stickybeak, always staring and smiling at everyone.

“You can tell that people love it most when Dad has her strapped to his chest in the carrier though.”

Ms Holmes laughed at the timing of the success as she explained that Brooklyn had just started teething.

“She’s not very cute right now; I’d say she’s a little feral,” she said.

Brooklyn was everything her parents needed to confirm they definitely want a “couple more kids”.

“I’ve been really lucky for a first-time mum because honestly, she’s an angel baby,” Ms Holmes said.

“I haven’t really been sleep-deprived or noticed a massive, hectic difference in my daily life because she’s just slotted in so perfectly.

“I think if I’ve learnt anything as a new mum it’s to take everything as it comes. It’s a wild ride and you can’t control everything.”
