NRL’S MARKETING CAMPAIGN KEEPS IT SIMPLE, AND REAL
THE NRL has gone back to its grassroots with its new advertising campaign for the 2022 season.
It’s a strong departure from previous bigmoney campaigns, and features Nathan and Ivan Cleary, James Tedesco and Tazmin Gray.
The 60-second advertisement includes a tribute to recently retired star Benji Marshall, and a cameo from Axel Wolthers, a 10year-old from the Avalon Bulldogs.
“The theme of our marketing for the 2022 season is celebrating all the authentic, real moments that exist in rugby league,” NRL chief executive Andrew Abdo said. “From junior participation to grand final glory.” A 30-second version featuring all 16 clubs will be released next week.
“Our players, the communities they represent, the adversity our clubs and athletes face and most importantly the authenticity of our fans,” Abdo said. “Our game is genuinely real and that’s what makes rugby league unreal.”
