CUPPA FOR A CAUSE AT CAFE

- MARK MURRAY

A FAR North cafe is set to donate one of its busiest days of trade to a special fund set up to help the funeral arrangements of a muchloved resident killed in a motorcycle crash.

Port Douglas woman Shanti Wren, 27, died last week after falling from a motorcycle on Barrier Street, with the incident sending shockwaves across the region.

One of her former employers, Toast Sandwhich Bar, will donate all proceeds from its coffee sales in honour of their “one in a million” former barista.

“This past week has been a tough one,” her friend and Toast owner Luke Headland said.

“Not only was ‘Shants’ our very first barista at Toast but many of us had worked with her for many years prior.

“Shants was literally one in a million.”

Mr Headland said the initiative was aimed at helping give her “the send-off she deserves.”
