- HARRY MURTOUGH

THIS week’s constant deluge has left many a turf too sodden to play on, but some Far North grounds will go ahead with their weekend matches.

In the CDRL, junior rugby league pre-season matches at Edmonton on Saturday have been cancelled.

Thursday night rain also led to junior games getting the boot at Ivanhoes.

Senior trial games are set to still go ahead, with games scheduled at Ivanhoes and Mungalli Creek Dairy Stadium in Atherton.

In AFL, some games have been moved to Fretwell Park, but pre-season action scheduled for Crathern Park will not go ahead because of the wet conditions.

Cairns Hockey Association announced that weekend games on grass would be postponed due to the rain.

Games played on the Reef and Rainforest turfs were given the green light to go ahead.

In cricket, the Tier 3 Gold match at Loder Park has been called off.

The fifth grade match between Barron and Atherton at Loder Park will, however, go ahead.

Barring any Saturday rain, the second grade final between Atherton and Mulgrave Punjabi at Walker Road should also go ahead

In soccer, Endeavour Park will be closed on Saturday with junior community division and Marlin Coast Miniroos games getting cancelled.
