HAVE YOUR SAY ON FATE OF BUILDINGS

- BRONWYN FARR

TABLELANDS Regional Council will seek community feedback on potentially selling, donating or demolishing 17 community buildings across the shire.

Mayor Rod Marti said they had been identified as endof-life, under-utilised or surplus to community needs.

“We have more than 300 community facilities and many of them are single purpose … it’s just not sustainable,” Mr Marti said. There was a need for goodquality, appropriate, flexible and fit-for-purpose assets that were sustainable, he said. “Community feedback indicates a desire for multipurpose facilities and therefore I’m looking forward to continuing our engagement journey to plan for current and future community need,” he said.

The 17 facilities include Atherton Community Centre in Mabel St, Atherton

Community Centre Tableland Dog Obedience Club, Atherton CWA hall, Atherton Hallorans Hill building, Atherton SES shed, Butchers Creek Hall, Herberton Tennis Club, Herberton Town Hall, Malanda Majestic Theatre, Malanda School of Arts building, Millaa Millaa Golf Club, Millaa Millaa RSL Hall, Millaa Millaa Sporting Hall, Mount Garnet SES shed, Mount Garnet town hall, Ravenshoe Judo club house and Ravenshoe RSL building.
