LONG LIVE THE QUEENS, THEY LOVE THE NIGHTLIFE

- MARK MURRAY

THE timeless classics of Priscilla – Queen of the Desert will be belted out at the Clink Theatre in Port Douglas for the next three weeks after the opening of a locally made production.

The Douglas Theatre Arts Group will bring the show to life in all its sequined glory until April 17, despite a recent Covid scare from a number of its cast leading up to opening night, which was Thursday.

”I am proud to be part of such a talented group of people,” said vocal coach Alteouise DeVaugn.

“What we accomplished in the lead up to opening night made me believe the standard of the show could move anywhere.”

The cast is entirely made up of Port Douglas and surrounding area artists and is promising a “full showgirl” good time at the popular theatre on Mowbray St.

The performance is choreographed by renowned dance coach Saskia Turner.

The first three have sold out with the musical set to run for a further eight nights following Sunday’s performance, including Easter weekend. Tickets are still available.
