Aid stocks 12-year low

-

EMERGENCY food stocks have hit a low at Anglicare NQ and the team are calling for community assistance so they can keep helping the people who need it the most.

Operations manager Evan Martin said stocks were the lowest they’d been in 12 years.

“The cupboard is literally bare,” Mr Martin said.

“Even our food reserves are at an all-time low and we need all the help we can get.

“If people have nonperishable food items that they can donate, we would be so grateful.

“It will really mean the difference between a family going hungry or having a full tummy overnight in our local community.”

The service is in need of non-perishable items such as washing powder, toothpaste, pasta, sauces, biscuits, tinned vegetables and baked beans.

Donations can be dropped off to the Cairns Homelessness Services Hub on Bunda St.
