Gollan to unleash his wet weather experts
TONY Gollan has a team of wet weather warriors ready to tackle the sodden Gold Coast track on Saturday, with heavy rain expected to rule out a number of other leading chances throughout the day.
The champion trainer said he had no concerns over his boom colt Nettuno racing on a heavy track, but conceded that Saturday’s Group 3 Ken Russell Classic might see the end of his winter campaign.
The unbeaten two-year-old is arguably Queensland’s best juvenile but Gollan is prepared to skip the winter riches on offer, with an eye towards a spring campaign for the $500,000 colt.
Rated a hot $1.80 favourite with TAB, Gollan said Nettuno will get his first opportunity to race “properly” in behind horses from a soft draw.
