Developer launches application for four villas and retail space We feel adding a tasteful touch of commercial class and life to Warner St will serve the community well.
NATHAN VERRI
CAIRNS developer and builder Nathan Verri and his wife Julie are focusing on Port Douglas with plans for four villas and a retail space at 3-32 Warner St.
The site one street back from the main street in Port Douglas, Macrossan St, is 2024sq m.
Existing dwellings would be demolished to make way for four two-storey, four bedroom villas at the rear with 160sq m of retail space at the front. “It is proposed to commence construction of the multiple dwellings and then subdivide them on to their own lots such that each becomes a dwelling house,” the development application submitted to Douglas Shire Council states.
“It is also proposed to place the commercial building on its own lot which would then be strata titled into two tenancies, while access driveways and carparks would be placed in common property.”
The villas would be on blocks from 318sq m to 322sq m.
“The development will also include provision of off-street undercover parking for each villa, an off-street carparking allocation for the commercial tenancies, landscaping and areas for on-site services which will be contained within a proposed common area,” the document stated.
Mr Verri said the Port Douglas project has been in design and development for a few months.
“We feel adding a tasteful touch of commercial class and life to Warner St will serve the community well,” he said.
He said the villas would be elegant and luxurious and the small scale project prevented over development.
“The design and finish of these villas are next level, providing grandeur, privacy, convenience and true resort-style living,” Mr Verri said.
“The commercial spaces lend themselves to a variety of options,” he said.
“The imagery we had digitally generated shows a cafe and bar, but the space could also accommodate a boutique clothing or homewares shop, architecture or interior design
studio, possibly even an onsite property management office,” he said.
The Baha Villas development at 87-89 Davidson Rd is taking shape under the direction of Mr Verri.
“Baha is cranking along and coming out of the ground quite well,” he said.
“Unfortunately in the current construction environment there is no possibility to set any records, but we strive to maintain flow, meet time frames and above all achieve the quality, design and finish (of the project) as envisaged.”
The two-storey Baha Villas each have four bedrooms, each with its own ensuite, and an extra toilet on the ground floor, two kitchens, and a private swimming pool.
Two villas in Mr Verri’s Nova development on what was vacant land at Mudlo St in Port Douglas sold quickly.
Mr and Mrs Verri are also behind a development application for a restaurant at 74 Kewarra St, Kewarra Beach which features a beachfront location that would overlook the playground at the northern end of the beach.
