Kubb competition

-

The third season of a Wimmera Regional Sports Assembly Horsham kubb competition will start at May Park at 12.30pm on Wednesday next week.

Team registrations have increased with each season of the highly social activity and organisers are hoping for 15 teams in this competition.

Assembly sports program manager Matthew Friedlieb said the game was the ‘perfect lunchtime social activity where you can even eat your lunch while you play’.

“It is free to enter a team in the competition and a minimum of two players are required each week, however, the players can change each week if desired,” he said.

Kubb is a traditional Swedish yard game gaining popularity around the world.

It is a simple concept, with each team throwing small wooden batons at their opponent’s wooden kubbs.

The first team to knock down the opposing team’s kubbs as well as the king kubb wins.
