Dawn a ‘true believer’
Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews took time during a visit to Stawell to make a presentation to long-time Stawell ALP branch member Dawn Scott.
Ms Scott, a former small mixed-business owner, school bus driver and community volunteer, has been a Labor Party member for 62 years.
Mr Andrews said during the presentation that she had been one of the party’s ‘true believers’.
“She’s been with us through thick and thin,” he said.
“She’s a pillar of the local community in Stawell and we in the Labor Party have enormous admiration for her hard work, decency and good humour.”
Ms Scott lives in Eventide retirement village and was president and secretary of the Stawell ALP branch for many years.
She has previously worked for many years with people with intellectual disabilities.
Her voluntary work includes being a long-time member of Stawell Uniting Church, catering for Stawell Agricultural Society functions, and helping with Meals on Wheels for more than 20 years.
She was also a Sunday school teacher for 35 years.
