New vehicle for drive program

-

Central Grampians Local Learning and Employment Network’s L2P Learner Driver Mentor program has grown by four wheels.

The Department of Justice has provided Central Grampians LLEN with a new car for an L2P learner-driver program.

L2P is a free service offered to young people who need to complete their 120 hours of driving on L-plates, but do not have access to a car or mentor driver.

The Transport Accident Commission funds the Central Grampians L2P program, managed by Vicroads and delivered by Central Grampians LLEN and Ararat Rural City, Northern Grampians and Pyrenees councils.

Central Grampians LLEN offers the L2P program in three regions – Northern Grampians Shire, Ararat Rural City and Pyrenees Shire.

It matches each learner-driver with a certified volunteer mentor driver and an L2P car at no financial cost. The organisation’s new L2P car is a blue 2016 Toyota Yaris.

People seeking more information about Central Grampians LLEN’S L2P program can call co-ordinators Sarah Garton or Brendan van den Clarke on 5352 3266.

The Wimmera’s Centre for Participation in Horsham also runs an L2P program with information available on 5382 5607.
