Probus milestone
Horsham East Ladies Probus Club founding members Rene Vivian, Phyl Cramer and Alice Laird have been honoured with life memberships to the organisation.
The trio was recognised at the club’s 25th birthday celebration, joining other life members Val Watt and Lorna Rentsch.
Long-serving member Margaret Woodford received a 20-year badge at the celebration.
Thirty-two foundation members attended Horsham East Ladies Probus Club’s inaugural meeting at Horsham RSL on March 2, 1992.
Membership grew throughout the years, with good attendance levels.
The club participates in wider Probus events including conferences and friendship days.
Members also celebrate activities with other district clubs, including birthdays and Christmas functions, along with trips and outings organised by the Horsham East club.
The Probus ladies participate in community projects, including the annual selling of Anzac Day badges and Remembrance Day poppies.
Members enjoy a wide range of informative guest speakers and outings and trips are well supported.
The club elected its 2017-18 office bearers at the 25th anniversary meeting. They are: President, Margaret Woodford; vicepresident, Joan Parker; secretary, Nola Bellinger; assistant secretary, Denise Dobson; treasurer, Trish Reinheimer; membership officer, Dawn Hobbs; assistant membership officer, Lorna Rentsch; trip organisers, Marion Seater, Ruth Walter, Cheryl Bell; guest speakers, Jenny Sonego; welfare officer, Mary Mckenry; publicity officer, Rene Vivian; magazines, Margaret Schreck; newsletter, Raelene Pfeiffer; club service, Diane Ballinger; immediate past-president, Raelene Pfeiffer.
