Fundraising finale for teams

-

The East Grampians Health Service Murray to Moyne Cycle Relay teams are on the home straight with fundraising efforts.

The ‘Cranks’ and ‘Defibrillators’ have two major fundraising events in March, with all money raised from this year’s event going towards a new bus for the service’s Patricia Hinchey Centre.

The bus is used by the centre’s aged and disabled clients for outings and activities.

A trivia night will be at the Patricia Hinchey Centre in Girdlestone Street, with team rider Charlie Reid hosting the event.

East Grampians Health Service community liaison officer Jodie Holwell said district trivia buff Marion Mcadie had organised the program.

“It promises to be a great night for anyone who loves trivia,” she said.

“Because the event falls on St Patrick’s Day, people are invited to dress for the occasion and there will be a prize for the best dressed in green.”

Tickets are $15 a person, with tables of eight, or individual tickets, available by contacting Jacinta Harman on 5352 9326. It will be bring your own nibbles and drinks. Supper will be provided.

The final fundraiser will be a movie night at Ararat’s Astor Cinema featuring the Disney favourite ‘Beauty and the Beast’, starring Emma Watson in a new telling of the classic story.

“This movie is suitable for the whole family,” Ms Holwell said.

“Kids will absolutely love the live action version of the original animated movie.”

Beauty and the Beast will screen at 7.30pm on March 23. A $20 ticket will include ‘movie munchies’, a drink and entry in a raffle. Tickets are available from the cinema during opening hours or on the night.

The Murray to Moyne relay is on April 1 and 2.

“Our team of 16 cyclists has been training hard for the relay, which covers 525 kilometres from Swan Hill to Port Fairy, and we are looking forward to our final two fundraisers which we hope the community will come out and support,” Ms Holwell said.
