A new format of playing best-offive sets in the top competition has been well received by all players, giving them plenty of solid volleyball to start the season.

Reigning premiers Phantom Masters head the B Grade ladder with three wins but it is the form of the young Saints that has captured everyone’s attention.

The National Schools Cup bronze medalists are undefeated after four games and have stepped up into the stronger competition and performed well.

The Phantoms and Team Alpha Wolf Squadron are the two standout teams in the Blue Group of C Grade with both undefeated after three rounds. The Phantoms boys are getting stronger and are well led by Alex Baker and Matt Jorgensen-price, while Team Alpha has welcomed Lucy Hobbs back to the team and has been consistent thus far.

Otto Maroske’s HC Knights are the pacesetters in the Red Group of C Grade and are undefeated after three rounds.

The young boys from Horsham College are developing nicely but face strong opposition from the Deadly Spikers, with Max Coleman and Tegan Kanoa-muir showing good improvement.

Cleo Baker’s Murtoa team and Noah Brennan’s Saints are the two top teams in juniors. With plenty of new faces participating and coaches teaching their teams the basics of the game, there have been many close games so far this season, which augurs well for the future.
