Colts set sights on A Grade comp

Colts ap­pear well on track to re-en­ter­ing Hor­sham Cricket As­so­ci­a­tion’s A Grade com­pe­ti­tion af­ter scor­ing a dra­matic 11th-hour B Grade premier­ship vic­tory.

Colts suc­cess­fully de­fended 198 at Dud­ley Cor­nell Park at the week­end by bowl­ing their op­po­nents out for 180 with less than four overs to spare in the game.

First drop Josh Col­bert top­scored for the win­ners with 71 while bowlers, led by vet­eran Dean Arnott, shared in the spoils.

Hor­sham Saints’ Ay­den Roberts pro­duced his best fig­ures for the sea­son, cap­tur­ing 6-33, and vet­eran Gary David­son top-scored with 71 with sup­port from Mark Crafter, 34. The game fea­tured a va­ri­ety of dra­matic mo­ments with the con­test ebbing and flow­ing un­til the fi­nal wicket.

Quan­tong won an as­so­ci­a­tion C Grade ti­tle, bowl­ing Homers out for 143 be­fore fin­ish­ing the con­test at 7-148 at Cough­lin Park in Hor­sham.

The vic­tory was the re­sult of a team ef­fort with Jack Vague, 32, James Hal­lett, 30, and Peter Brand, 21, lead­ing the way with the bat and a va­ri­ety of bowlers cap­tur­ing wick­ets.

For Homers, David Johns top-scored with 57, Mark Hal­lam made 28 and Bay­ley Burke made 25, while su­per vet­eran Barry Hop­per cap­tured 3-21.
