Young Hornets head to Bendigo

Horsham Amateur Basketball Associatio­n’s under-12 girls and boys will have their turn in the spotlight at the weekend when they head to Bendigo for state championsh­ips.

Associatio­n junior representa­tive director Tony Sleep said the Hornets youngsters had been working hard in the lead-up to the Basketball Victoria Country event.

“As an associatio­n it’s always exciting to see our younger teams heading off to the championsh­ips for the first time,” he said.

“We hope that they and their families have a great weekend of competitio­n.”

The Hornets boys will compete against teams from Kyneton, Yarra-mul, Wallan, Corio Bay, Lakes Entrance and Leongatha.

The Hornets girls are in a pool with teams from Bendigo, Warrnamboo­l and Korumburra.
