Horsham swimmer latest sports star nominee

Horsham swimmer Miette Hopper is Wimmera Sports Star star nominee for February.

Hopper won her nomination after winning gold in a 14-yearold 50-metre breaststroke event at Victorian Sprint Championships.

Hopper was competing at the championships for the third time. It was also the third time she had collected a medal.

Her time established her as the fastest 14-year-old swimmer in the 50m breaststroke for this season.

She will now compete in national titles next month

Hopper is the second nominee for the annual awards, after triathlete Ella Walsgott was the January nominee.

Both are in line to collect Wimmera Sports Star of the Year as well as a $1000 Sports Star scholarship, at a gala dinner on February 9 next year.
