Murder, mayhem in the Grampians

-

Ozact will return to Heatherlie Quarry at Easter to present one of Shakespeare’s most popular plays in the bushland surrounds of Grampians National Park.

Actors will perform Macbeth on April 14, 15 and 16.

Director Bruce Widdop said Macbeth was Shakespeare’s most powerful play, featuring two of his strongest and most intriguing characters, Macbeth and Lady Macbeth.

“It tells of their journey from lofty dreams of power to the deepest pits of desolation and despair,” he said.

“Macbeth has all of the elements for which Shakespeare is revered – powerful images, gripping characters, intriguing relationships and plenty of action – all brought to life with powerful performances and enhanced by beautiful costumes. This production promises an event to remember.”

Widdop said Heatherlie Quarry’s architectural and natural elements provided a perfect setting for Shakespeare’s greatest works.

“The great Australian love of the outdoors, the casual atmosphere, the proximity to performers, the exciting acting, and the startling synergies between place and play leave an indelible impression on our audiences,” he said.

“Our productions are popular with Shakespeare lovers as well as newcomers.”

Heatherlie Quarry shows will be at 3pm on April 14, 15 and 16. Tickets cost $35 for adults, $30 concession and $20 for children younger than six.
