Easter socks
Supporters of Warracknabeal charity the Elli Martha Fund are encouraging Wimmera residents to put socks before Easter eggs this month.
They want people to consider buying a colourful pair of ‘Elli’ socks for an Easter gift rather than a chocolate egg.
Fund organiser Angie Cox said the concept was certainly a healthy idea.
“I know we all enjoy our chocolate and we always indulge a little too much at Easter time,” she said.
“But we are also a lot more conscious about our health and our shire’s obesity issues these days.
“Buying Elli socks would be a great substitute to Easter eggs or bunnies and people would feel much better for it too.
“They would be not only supporting a great cause but looking after their health and keeping warm.”
All profits from ‘Elli’ socks go towards supporting the region’s families with children in care at a Melbourne hospital or health service hours away from their home.
