Students shine at Mount Gambier

Horsham Holy Trinity Lutheran School teams impressed in the season opener of the 2017 Australian HPV Super Series.

The HPV – Human Powered Vehicle – Super Series is an annual championsh­ip that attracts teams from across the country.

Twenty-six Holy Trinity students travelled to Mount Gambier to compete in the eight-hour endurance race.

Principal Chris Surridge said the 2.4-kilometre, hilly track at Mac Park Motorcycle Racing circuit was challengin­g.

“The students had a fantastic day full of physical and tactical challenges and fun,” he said.

“They worked together as a team and supported one another extremely well.

“Being the first race of the 2017 season we were very pleased with the performanc­e of the students and the vehicles.

“We are looking forward to events at Loxton, Bendigo and Maryboroug­h as well as special days at Dimboola Recreation Reserve.”

Results

Hurricane, years six and seven team, sixth in category one, 47th overall; Thunder, year seven, second in category one, 37th overall; Avalanche, years eight and nine, second in category two, 20th overall; Tempest, year 10, third in category two, 24th overall.
