Gift for O’sullivans in wet

-

Stawell trainers Terry and Karina O’sullivan won the opening event at Terang Cup day on Sunday, before the meeting was called off due to inclement weather.

The O’sullivans saddled She’s Our Gift in a maiden plate restricted to two-yearolds.

Ridden by Linda Meech, She’s Our Gift settled just off the pace and in the teeming rain, enjoyed a good run.

The daughter of All American grew another leg when balanced in the straight revelling in the heavy conditions. She’s Our Gift proved superior over the concluding stages, dashing away for an impressive win by two and a half lengths.

She’s Our Gift broke her maiden at just her third start, suggesting there will be more wins in store over the winter months.

Dream continues

Horsham jockey Dean Yendall bounced back from a minor mishap at Mildura recently, returning to the saddle to ride a steady flow of winners last week.

Yendall’s best win came aboard Ken’s Dream at Caulfield on Saturday. The threeyear-old, trained by Darren Weir, lined up in a 1200-metre event worth $100,000.

Despite beginning awkwardly, Yendall didn’t panic and rode Ken’s Dream for luck, back in the field. The son of Dream Ahead steadily made ground throughout the race, with Yendall weaving a passage in the straight.

Ken’s Dream somehow got into clear galloping room and began to mount a serious challenge. Over the concluding stages Ken’s Dream showed good acceleration to claim a narrow victory.

• The Wimmera is in for a big weekend of racing with the Warracknabeal Cup meeting on Saturday and Stawell Cup on Sunday.
