Wimmera District Veteran Golfers Associatio­n members will play in a Wimmera, Ballarat and Glenelg challenge at Ararat’s Chalambar course on Tuesday.

The challenge comes after 52 veteran golfers had their regular stableford event, at Nhill on Monday.

A Grade went to Daryl Dunford of Chalambar with 40 points, who won from Graeme Healy, Stawell, 39. Stan Ryan from Warracknab­eal was successful in B Grade with 35 points from Dennis Hutchinson, Toolondo, 34 points.

C Grade was closely contested with three players tied on 35 points. Noel Curran from Horsham won on countback from Lindsay Smale, Warracknab­eal, who was runner-up, also on a countback.

Nearest the pins: Fourth, Bill Hutchinson, seventh, Ken Farrar, ninth, Ewan Cameron, 12th, Stewart Sanders, 14th, Graham Moncrieff.

World pool champion

Multiple internatio­nal award-winning eight-ball player Mick ‘The Machine’ Hill will show off his skills at Horsham’s Commercial Hotel on Wednesday next week. Hill, 2008 and 2010 world masters champion and holder of 41 major titles, will be at the sports night from 7.30pm.
