Peace Train to roll into city

-

Award-winning singer-songwriter Darren Coggan will celebrate 50 years of Cat Stevens’ greatest hits during a performance in Horsham.

Coggan will present Peace Train – A Tribute to Cat Stevens at Wesley Performing Arts Centre on Friday.

Peace Train recreates the songs the world sang along with Stevens.

Coggan gives audiences an opportunity to relive Stevens’ messages of peace, love and harmony through hits such as Moonshadow, Wild World, Father and Son, Morning Has Broken, Peace Train and other generation-defining hits.

Fifty years ago, Stevens was the ultimate rock star – talented, charismatic and with a seemingly endless succession of beautiful melodies streaming from his imagination.

He sold more than 60-million albums, earned enough money to last several lifetimes and enjoyed all the trappings of fame. But Stevens wanted more out of life and at the height of his career, shocked the world by taking his last bow.

Coggan said his Peace Train ‘Remember the Days’ tribute was a night of music and storytelling.

“We take our audience on that same journey of self-discovery that Cat went on and try to answer the question, why did he leave the music industry?” he said. Coggan said Stevens defined a generation. “Fifty years later his messages of peace, tolerance and understanding are still just as relevant as when they were first written,” he said.

“These timeless songs continue to unite the world, bringing people together in the name of love and peace.

“Our audiences obviously come expecting to hear timeless songs of Cat Stevens, but I think they walk away with so much more, a real insight and understanding of who he was.”

“Coggan is a two-time Golden Guitar winner at the Country Music Awards. He has also appeared on Australian stages and television screens.

The Horsham show starts at 8pm and cost $55, or $50 concession or for groups of eight or more.
