Dine deep with health care friends

-

Following a successful lunch fundraiser at Port Fairy, Wimmera Health Care Group Friends of the Foundation has turned its attention to a ‘Dine Deep’ experience at Great Western.

Co-ordinator Allison Roberts encouraged community members to attend a dinner event in Seppelt’s underground cellars, known as ‘the drives’, on August 19.

The largest underground cellars in the southern hemisphere, the drives are three kilometres long.

They were hand carved by miners throughout a 60-year period and have been listed as an historic site by the National Trust.

“It will be great to celebrate what is in our region and take part in a unique dining experience while raising money for the foundation,” Mrs Roberts said.

The guests will be transported to Great Western and back by bus.

Tickets cost $150, which includes the bus trip, wine on arrival, a hosted tour of the drives with wine tasting and a two-course meal with matched wines underground in the Sir Dallas Brooks Drive.

Mrs Roberts said limited tickets are available, payable by cash or cheque only, by August 11.

She said people could buy tickets at Horsham Plaza centre manage- ment office. “People are encouraged to purchase their tickets early to avoid disappointment,” she said.

The foundation aims to raise money through donations, bequests and fundraising.

They invest the money, with the interest earned used to fund projects at Wimmera Health Care Group’s Horsham and Dimboola campuses.

The foundation has committed $420,000 over six years to the Wimmera Cancer Centre.

Money raised at the ‘Dine Deep’ dinner will help the foundation achieve its commitment.
