A long-time Wimmera retail steel outlet has changed hands for only the second time in more than 40 years.

Mick and Veronica Monaghan have taken over Henderson Steel, established in 1976 at 19 Horsham Road, Stawell, and changed its name to Itsa Steel.

Harland Henderson established Henderson Steel, focusing on retail steel sales as well as building steelframe houses.

Ownership changed with Gavin Orr buying the business and the Monaghans took over on July 1.

Mr Monaghan has worked in the steel industry for more than 30 years, including 15 at Henderson Steel.

He said the name change provided a fresh new identity for the business.

Mrs Monaghan has many years of administration experience. Jakeb Brown is yard manager.

Itsa Steel meets a variety of job needs from do-it-yourself to industrial projects. Apart from steel, the business sells tek screws, nuts, bolts, industrial gas, mesh, welding supplies and general hardware.
