Change lead­ers to speak at break­fast

AWim­mera Lead­ing Change break­fast in Hor­sham this month will fea­ture three high-profile speak­ers high­light­ing work to­wards the preven­tion of vi­o­lence against women.

The speak­ers will be Aus­tralian Hu­man Rights Com­mis­sion Sex Dis­crim­i­na­tion Com­mis­sioner Kate Jenk­ins, so­cial jus­tice ad­vo­cate Phil Cleary and do­mes­tic vi­o­lence survivor Simone O’brien.

Hor­sham Ru­ral City Coun­cil com­mu­nity ser­vices di­rec­tor Kevin O’brien said the event, on Au­gust 22, was an op­por­tu­nity for the com­mu­nity to learn more about an im­por­tant com­mu­nity issue.

“We are very pleased to have such high-cal­i­bre speak­ers com­ing to Hor­sham,” he said.

“The event will be a cat­a­lyst for im­por­tant dis­cus­sions that will hap­pen not only on the day, but fol­low­ing the event as well.”

Peo­ple can buy tick­ets for the event, at 7.15am at Hor­sham Town Hall, on­line for $30 at www. hor­sham­town­hall.com.au or at the Hor­sham Town Hall box of­fice. The price in­cludes break­fast.

Hor­sham Ru­ral City Coun­cil and the State Gov­ern­ment through the Depart­ment of Jus­tice are also sup­port­ing the event through grant fund­ing.
