AFL guests at charity dunk

-

Former AFL players Glenn Manton and Jason Johnson will be among guests at Nhill’s Davis Park on Saturday as part of a project to fight motor neurone disease.

Nhill and Dimboola clubs will clash during the day but will come together to help raise money and awareness for Neale Daniher’s Fightmnd charity.

The Tigers and Roos will wear special jumpers for the occasion, which will be auctioned off, together with signed AFL jumpers and a cricket bat signed by the Australian team, later in the night.

A major attraction after a senior football match will be an ice dunk featuring a dozen nominees who have agreed to take on the challenge to raise money for the cause.

People can donate to individual nominees online at give.everydayhero.com/au/nhill-and-dimboola-ice-dunk/members. They can also make donations and pledges on forms available at Davis Park clubroom. The ice dunk involves nominees perching above then dropping into about 1000 litres of ice and water.

Manton, who played for Essendon and Carlton, will address supporters in clubrooms at a lunch before the senior game. Johnson, Essendon, will be in Nhill for the day and evening.

After dinner at the clubrooms both will help with the auction of jumpers and share time with all club members.

Nhill and District Sporting Club has organised the event. People seeking more information or wanting to make a donation can call John Batson on 0427 911 892.
