Coun­cil­lor Jodie Pret­love is West Wim­mera Shire’s new mayor.

Cr Pret­love was elected Eden­hope.

She said she felt priv­i­leged to be cho­sen to lead the shire in the im­por­tant role.

“I thank my coun­cil­lor col­leagues for their sup­port and the trust they are plac­ing in me,” she said.

“I would also like to ac­knowl­edge the lead­er­ship and guid­ance pro­vided by the out­go­ing mayor, coun­cil­lor Bruce Meyer, over the past 12 months since I was elected to coun­cil.”

Cr Pret­love lives on her fam­ily’s farm­ing prop­erty at Min­i­may with her hus­band Craig.

The cou­ple has three adult chil­dren who are pur­su­ing in­di­vid­ual ca­reers.

Cr Pret­love spent more than 20 years run­ning her own hair­dress­ing business and said she un­der­stood the unique chal­lenges faced by small business and farm­ers alike.

Cr Pret­love is the shire’s fifth fe­male mayor since amal­ga­ma­tion in 1995.

She fol­lows in the foot­steps of the late Car­lyne White­head, 1998, Linda Guthridge, 2002 and 2006, Eve­line van Breugel, 2012, and An­nette Jones, 2015 and 2016.

“I look for­ward to en­gag­ing with our lo­cal com­mu­ni­ties and work­ing col­lab­o­ra­tively for the ben­e­fit of all who make West Wim­mera their home,” Cr Pret­love said. at a statu­tory meet­ing at
