Parents of primary and secondary-age children can learn how to talk to them about respectful relationships, sexuality and body safety at an information session in Horsham tonight.
The Talking the Talk: Sex and Health Education session will be in Wimmera Trade Training Centre auditorium from 7pm to 8.30pm.
Mother of three Vanessa Hamilton, who has 23 years’ experience as a sexual health nurse and educator, will lead the event.
She will teach participants how to tailor conversations with their children about healthy and respectful relationships, body and protective safety; what is normal childhood sexual behaviour and development; human reproduction; managing pre-puberty and beyond; pornography, safety and our sexualised society.
Hamilton will also help parents choose suitable information about sexual health including what is appropriate for their family.
The session is free for Horsham College parents and general admission is $15.
Parents and carers from all schools in the region are welcome to attend, although the session is not suitable for children.
Bookings are essential and people can visit www.trybooking.com/330750 to book.
