Buwalda joins sports star list
Horsham netballer Emma Buwalda is the October nominee in Wimmera Sports Star of the Year awards.
Buwalda has had an outstanding netball season. She was a key player in Horsham’s A Grade netball team, winning back-to-back Demons best and fairest awards.
She also finished fourth for Wimmera Netball Association’s Hatcher Medal and won a best player under-21 award.
Buwalda also played with the ACU Sovereigns under-19 development team in Ballarat Netball Association.
At the end of that season, she played eight games in the Sovereigns’ under-19 team in Victorian Netball League, finishing in the league’s top 10 for shooting averages.
Buwalda won a $50 voucher from Horsham business The Athlete’s Foot.
She joins volleyballers John Kearns and Noah Brennan, World Dwarf Games bronze medallist Joel Emmett, all-abilities footballer Tyson Harris and lawn bowler Josh Barry, AFL umpires Sebastian Dalgleish and Jackson Walsgott, equestrienne Morgan Lane, tennis player Steffi Mcdonald, swimmer Miette Hopper and triathlete Ella Walsgott as the monthly nominees.
