Top shots at Stawell range
Almost 40 of the best long-range rifle shooters in Australia put themselves to the test at Stawell Rifle Range.
The shooters gathered at Stawell for Victorian and National Match Rifle and Long Range F-class Championships.
The competition involves shooting over 1000, 1100 and 1200 yards.
At Stawell, the Australian Match Rifle Team practised on the first day of competition.
The team is priming itself for competition at Bisley in England in 2019.
Victorian championship winners were on the second day of competition with titles going to Paul Monaghan, Tasmania, in match rifle open, Shaun Wingrove, Canberra, winning match rifle reserve; and Lou Shallis, St Marys, NSW, winning F-class open.
The ninth Australian championships ran for three and a half days followed by team shooting.
A match rifle open title went to Phillip Bain, Wagga Wagga, NSW, match rifle reserve to Barry Southern from Rosedale; F-class open to Lou Shallis and F-TR by Mick Punturjero.
The Victorian team won all the state team events.
