300 gymnasts to land at Natimuk
More than 300 gymnasts will compete in Natimuk and District Gymnastic Club’s annual invitational at the weekend.
Gymnasts from level 0 to 10 in club and national stream will contest the two-day competition.
Twenty-one clubs from across Victoria and South Australia will be represented in men’s and women’s events.
Girls will compete on floor, vault, uneven bars and beam, and male competitors will contest floor, high bar, rings, vault, parallel bars and pommel.
Head coach Lynette Morrow said the Natimuk competition was the club’s final event for the year and was always a huge event on the calendar.
“We have gymnasts who compete throughout the year, but this one is a big one for us,” she said.
“For many of our younger gymnasts the Nati comp is their first taste of competition for the year, aside from our internal competition in June.
“Natimuk is well represented, with 86 of our own gymnasts competing.” Morrow encouraged spectators to attend. “We’re starting with the senior girls, levels six to 10, on Saturday morning, which will be of high standard,” she said.
“In the afternoon we welcome gymnasts from levels two to four, and on Sunday morning we kick off with national three girls, a huge group of 48 competitors.
“Level-one girls then take the spotlight, and in the afternoon our men’s competition will see more than 40 gymnasts competing. “It’s an exciting weekend of gymnastics.” Entry costs $5 for adults and is free for children.
