Ararat stu­dents off to Nepal

A group of Ararat College stu­dents have jet­ted off to Nepal as part of a com­mu­nity education pro­gram.

Two teach­ers and seven stu­dents, in­clud­ing Is­abel Ket­tle and Josh Fiegert, are vis­it­ing Kath­mandu, Pokhara and Chit­wan dur­ing the three­week stay. Miss Ket­tle said stu­dents had or­gan­ised the trip. “The whole trip is student-led, from or­gan­is­ing flights and trans­port to the com­mu­nity work we will be do­ing,” she said. “We will be do­ing com­mu­nity work in­clud­ing fence build­ing and get­ting in­volved in the Nepalese cul­ture.”

Miss Ket­tle said be­fore de­par­ture she was re­ally look­ing for­ward to the trip, de­spite be­ing scared of heights.

The stu­dents left on Sun­day and will re­turn in time for the college’s end-of-year pre­sen­ta­tions in December.
