Saddle Up wins in Hamilton

The Weekly Advertiser Horsham - - Sport -

Stawell trainers Terry and Karina O’sullivan returned to the winners circle in fine fashion at Hamilton.

The training partnership had Saddle Up lining up in a benchmark-58 event over 2200 metres with stable apprentice Jessica Eaton riding.

Saddle Up made good use of his inside barrier, box-seating behind the leaders.

The seven-year-old continued to travel kindly for Eaton, looming as a big chance before the turn. Once balanced, Saddle Up took the ground-saving run on the rails and dashed clear.

The son of Blevic was strong to the line, scoring a workman-like two-length win.

Saddle Up recorded just his second victory in 26 starts, rewarding his connections’ faith and patience in their gelding.

Yendall got the goss

Horsham jockey Dean Yendall endured a frustrating day at the Ballarat Cup meeting but still managed to boot home a winner.

Yendall had to wait for the last event, teaming with Darren Weir to ride Got The Goss. Got The Goss settled well back in the field while enjoying a soft run.

Yendall had to wait for a gap to open up in the straight, but when the son of Eavesdropper saw daylight he came home with a strong burst.

Got The Goss had to hold off a fast-finishing Proud Wolf to score by a long neck.
