While three of the four Volleyball Horsham grand final results went against expectations, it was a night to celebrate loyalty and dedication to the association for 23 members.
Volleyball Horsham has been punching well above its weight for much of its existence and the achievements of many of our members did not go unrecognised on grand final night.
To have so many current-day members achieving games milestones underlines how important volleyball is to these members.
For some, simply playing on a Monday or Wednesday night is their passion and their way of forgetting about what is happening in the outside world for a couple of hours and enjoy that time with some wonderful team-mates and friends.
For others, playing domestically sets them up for a crack at the big time, whether that be preparing for a country championship assault, playing in the big league which is State League, or for a select few, preparing to play for their state.
Whenever these members step onto the court at a country championship, in State League or their state, they are flying the flag for their home association and those team-mates who make that one or two hours as much fun as what it is.
100 or more games for Volleyball Horsham: Luke Hobbs, Blair Avery, Darcy Wills, Paddy Sherry, Vaughn Maroske, Jack Hannan, Shaun Bray, Jayden Mcqueen, Pat Laffy. 150 games or more: Ash Davidson, Delaney Wills, Emma Avery, Jon Fitzgerald, Loucas Vettos, Andrew Adamson, Peter Armstrong, Mark Radford, Rob Bahr. 200 games or more: Andrew Wundke, Dave Mcmaster, Chris Baker. 250 games or more: Kara Johnson, Brady King.
There are only three players who have played 300 or more games. they are Nathan Berry, Tim Popple and Matthew Berry.
Loyalty is a dying trait in many clubs and associations as players drift in and out. In the case of the five who have played 250 games or more, all five have overcome adversity in their careers to reach these wonderful milestones and have clearly displayed great loyalty.
From everyone at Volleyball Horsham we say thanks and hopefully these five set the example of dedication and commitment for many more members into the future.
