Downpour halts tennis
A thunderstorm on Friday night ruined the chances of keen Stawell Friday night tennis players completing their rounds, as the sudden downpour left the courts waterlogged before the first matches had been completed.
The washout favoured top side Frewstal because there is now only one round remaining before finals begin and it has a clear lead from the rest of the pack.
This week Farrers Tyrepower has a chance to take second spot on the ladder from Stawell Toyota if it can manage a significant win.
Last time these two sides met it was a 12-game margin in Stawell Toyota’s favour, but Farrers Tyrepower has shown much improvement since then and could easily take hold of this match.
The women’s section will determine who comes out on top with Tyrepower’s Amy Hodgetts, Kasey Mornane, Bridget Johnson and Dakota Cosson looking to gain the advantage over Toyota’s Jodie Grainger, Millie Francis, Bonnie Mcllvride and Erin Freeland.
In the second match David O Jones Mitre 10 might struggled to match Frewstal.
Mitre 10 went down by 14 games at its last meeting so it will need the ball to bounce its way if it is to score an upset.
