Pick­ert picks up top award

Hor­sham Hornets’ Tim Pick­ert capped off a stel­lar 2017-18 Coun­try Basketball League sea­son by claim­ing the club’s most valu­able player ac­co­lade.

Pick­ert was ear­lier this month named the league MVP and was also the north­west con­fer­ence’s high­est scorer.

The Hornets en­joyed a great first sea­son in the new con­fer­ence, drop­ping only one match on their way to the ti­tle.

Pick­ert claimed the MVP award ahead of Matt Lovel, with coach Cam Bruce third. Jeremiah Mcken­zie col­lected the Gra­ham Adams Me­mo­rial Award.

Ge­or­gia His­cock won the Lady Hornets MVP award, Caitlin Story earned run­ner-up hon­ours and Olivia Jones was third. Jess Can­nane picked up the coaches award.

The Lady Hornets also had a great year, fin­ish­ing on top of the lad­der with only one loss, but fell short of Bendigo in the grand fi­nal.
