Willaura Hospital pledge
Willaura Hospital will be a beneficiary of a Liberal-nationals government if voters elect for a change of State Government later this year.
The Coalition has promised to provide $600,000 to start a $2-million hospital redevelopment project.
Member for Lowan and State Opposition country health representative Emma Kealy announced details at Willaura Hospital Auxiliary’s annual Sunday market.
“People living in the Willaura region deserve access to first-class health services and facilities and that’s what a Liberal-nationals government will deliver,” Ms Kealy said.
Ms Kealy said the Willaura district community would benefit greatly from the project, which would include:
• A purpose-built GP clinic.
• Two consulting rooms for use by GPS and visiting health professionals.
• Private ensuite bathrooms for 10 rooms to improve care and privacy for patients.
• Extension of the dayroom to increase the area available for dining and recreation.
• Ramps to improve disability access to the building and a disabled toilet.
• Reception and waiting area to improve security and amenity.
“A Liberal-nationals government will provide the $600,000 to kick-start the much-needed redevelopment of the Willaura Hospital if elected in November,” Ms Kealy said.
“The existing buildings are significantly aged and in urgent need of major works to support the fabulous staff at Willaura Hospital deliver the best possible health care to our local people.
“We know that attracting and retaining clinical and support staff is getting harder in regional Victoria, which is one of the many reasons we need to ensure our rural health facilities are first class.”
Ms Kealy said the hospital community had done a fantastic job with the redevelopment plan.
“I am proud to be part of a team that recognises that when the people living in and around Willaura need health care, they need to be able to access great health services locally and will be supported by a fantastic purpose-built health care facility,” she said.
“We are committed to first-class health facilities in country areas and see redevelopment of the Willaura Hospital as vital to ensuring the future wellbeing of the local community. Victorians will have a clear choice in November – a Liberal-nationals government that will deliver first-class health facilities for all Victorians, not just those living in metropolitan Melbourne.”
